If you haven’t yet met and spoken with Elizabeth in The Local Grocer, you really should! Elizabeth is a skilled herbalist who recently just completed her course work. Elizabeth wears many hats here at the grocer, as she is our Assistant Opening Manager, Buyer of Herbs & Supplements, and in store Herbalist.

Elizabeth spent her first year of herbalism in an apprenticeship with Debbie Mercier of Greenwood Herbals where the focus was on native plant identification and use, and to learn how to work with plants in our daily lives. This prepared her to move onto her second year at Greenwood Herbals where she completed an advanced clinical. The clinical is set up to help herbalists who want to practice on a clinical level gain skills and begin assessment work. Elizabeth also learned advanced techniques for medicine making and energetics.

After completing her two years  of work at Greenwood Herbals, Elizabeth went on to spend a third year at Bay Light Homeopathy, located in Portland, Maine where she refined her skills in homeopathic first aid, acute care, homeopathic history & philosophy as well as acute & emergency approaches. In addition to that she completed an advanced clinical with Mischa Schuler of Wild Carrot Portland where they explored tongue, pulse, facial assessment, clinical intake, and ethics. The advanced clinical is built on having a firm belief in one’s own intuition and relationship with the plants. She also independently completed the Maine Herbal Series out of Taproot Magazine located at Milk & Honey Cafe of Swallowtail Farm.

Elizabeth is a mother to an eight year old daughter and has been with her husband for 16 years. When not healing, she can be found spending time outdoors with her family and two dogs. She resides locally, here in North Conway.

We are so proud of Elizabeth and the amount of time and effort she has put into her herbalism practice. Her life-changing curriculum is allowing her to serve others through a dynamic and rewarding practice in a growing field. “Working in the apothecary section has helped fuel my knowledge and apply it practically by helping others ” said Elizabeth. She truly is a skilled professional and excels at healing others as she is patient and a great listener. Curious about herbalism? Have a question, or need some friendly advice? Stop in and say hi. We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Local Grocer is open from 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week. Elizabeth can typically be found here in the mornings Monday thru Friday from 8 to 3:30.
